Getting started

Weird Requests is a marketplace for the absurd, the specific, and the creative. The kind of request no normal gig site has a category for. Someone posts it, someone weird delivers it, and the money sits safely in escrow until it's done.

The two roles

Everyone can do both, on any request:

  • Posters describe what they want, set a price, and pay into escrow when they pick someone.
  • Fulfillers apply to requests, get picked, deliver the goods, and get paid.

There's no separate "seller account." You post when you want something weird done, and you fulfill when you spot a request you can nail.

How a request flows

  1. Post. You write the request, set a price ($25–$2,500) and a deadline, and it goes through a quick human moderation pass before it's public.
  2. Applications. Fulfillers pitch themselves and (optionally) propose a different price. You can chat with any of them before deciding.
  3. Pick. You choose someone. That's when your card is charged — the price plus a 5% fee — and the money enters escrow. Held, not paid.
  4. Deliver. The fulfiller submits their work (within 7 days, or it counts as late). Every delivery passes a human moderation check before it reaches you.
  5. Accept. You accept and escrow releases to the fulfiller, minus their 15% fee. Not quite right? You get one revision round. Genuinely wrong? Open a dispute and a human decides.

If you do nothing for 5 days after an approved delivery, escrow auto-releases — fulfillers don't get held hostage by a quiet inbox. And if nobody gets picked before the request expires (14 days by default), nothing was ever charged.

Money, briefly

  • You're charged the request price plus a 5% poster fee when you pick someone. Not before.
  • The fulfiller receives the price minus a 15% fulfiller fee when you accept.
  • Funds are held in escrow the entire time in between. Disputes freeze it; refunds come out of it; nobody touches it otherwise.

Identity, briefly

You are your handle. Requests, applications, chat, ratings — all of it happens under your pseudonym. Your legal name, email, and payment details stay on your account and never show anywhere public. Completed deliveries are private by default and only ever go public if both sides explicitly opt in.

Set yourself up

A five-minute checklist that saves friction later:

  1. Claim a good handle — it's your public byline on everything.
  2. Verify your email — required before posting or applying.
  3. Posting something? Add a card in . It isn't charged until you actually pick someone.
  4. Planning to fulfill? Set up payouts (bank via our payments partner, or a crypto wallet) so your first acceptance pays out instantly instead of sitting in deferred limbo.
  5. Turn on 2FA in — this account will have money moving through it.

Where everything lives

  • — the public feed of open requests, filterable by category, price, and location. Save a search to get alerts on new matches.
  • — your requests, applications, and notifications in one sweep.
  • My requests / My applications — each side of your activity, with statuses.
  • Messages — one chat thread per application, kept on-platform so escrow and moderation can actually protect you. Price negotiation happens here too, via custom offers.
  • — your bookmarked requests and saved-search alerts.
  • / — your money, both directions, with printable receipts.
  • — the community's most-upvoted requests, crowned daily through all-time.

Ready?

  • . Get your weird thing done.
  • . Find something to fulfill.
  • . Let Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini browse the feed for you.
